Wah Cantt is located 50 km (appx. 30 miles) north west of Islamabad. It is a valley
Wah has a historical background. Wah has always been a favorite place of the Mughal rulers. They built here several gardens such as the most famous “Wah Garden”. It is still present with its remains. It is located on the main G.T Road bisecting the Islamabad.

Garden has a historical value as well as it is a beautiful and attractive picnic spot. Still this park has potential to drive the people from different places.
as it is surrounded by hills in all directions.
Wells are the important remaining of the Mughals; one of them still exists with its Mughal glory that is in the Sher Shah Park Aslam Market, where it is said that Sher Shah horses used to drink water.

Wah is the area having fertile soil. It is suitable for growing every sort of crops and especially fruits. This area was not so much developed before the construction of the Pakistan Ordinance Factories.

The word ”Cantt” was added to Wah in 1951,when Prime minister Khawaja Nizam-UD-Din unveiled the stone of Pakistan Ordinance Factory Wah Cantt. It is the sole one ammunition factory of Wah Cantt .It is the complex of 14 factories.

History,
It is said that Jahangeer’s army was coming back from Kashmir mission, it was evening time, and they were tired and looking for a place to stay. They started to search an appropriate place among Barren Mountains. After a little search they were successful to find a place, where there was natural source of water. As soon as the Mughal King watched the natural spring, he loudly said ”Wah”. His words punched on the stones of history. After that day, this territory is called Wah.

It is adjacent to the Taxila City, which is called as the “first university of the world” as well as it is enriched with one of the enriched with one of the most important archeological sites of the Asia as well as world.

Wah Cantt is the multi cultural city. People from all over the corners of the Pakistan are serving here. They are all away from their homes with a mission. Their mission is just to make Pakistan stronger. Here are many job opportunities as well as educational environment. We can cal Wah Cantt an amalgamation of four provinces.

Here people are very peace loving, co-operative and literate. Peace prevails over this beautiful valley.

Most of the people are factory employees and very hardworking and ambitious urging fro progress.

Women are side by side with men over here. So here is an ideal environment for jobs and business. Women are working in buses, in markets and P.O.F also. There are a large number of lady conductors, lady doctors, lady teachers and businesswomen over here. Wah has built up its own culture, a very educational and peaceful rich culture.

There is no caste system, no religious differences. Minorities have their freedom. SO, there are many churches built for Christians.

The one thing about the Wah culture is its even social status and equal living standards. All are working people. There is o any feudal system over here.

In the promotion of the Wah culture Ordnance Club is busy in its cultural activities. Their club use to organize musical and other social and cultural activities in promoting peaceful co-existence. Ordnance Club has provided people a socio-cultural channel to enhance their abilities in accordance with social norm.

P.O.F has provided its employees every facility at doorstep such as medication, transportation, accommodation, shopping and other facilities of life that’s why people are living peacefully.

People here in Wah use to wear national dress but all uniforms if institutions are of western culture prevail over Wah city.


The important thing about Wah industry is its arms, which has a world-class quality. It can be said that the only force behind our forces is P.O.Fs and if today Pakistanis are proud for having the strong defense, then all its credit goes to P.O.Fs.

The second most important thing about Wah region is its literacy rate, which is 98%, and it is highest rate of literacy in any region of Asia. It is said, “Education is the cheaper defense of nation”. SO Wah is on her way to strengthen the defense of Pakistani nation. In this field of education as well because here every mature person is graduate and its literacy is equal in women. There are near about 115 educational institutes with near about 50,000 students. Wah Cantt has proved its mettle in both literal and technical education. In the field of technical education Wah Cantt has its specific place being the city of technicians and engineers. There are many technical institutes working in Wah Cantt. Federal Government schools and Colleges are in majority.

Wah Cantt is a place of learning and heaven for knowledge seekers. It is the congested complex of educational institutes.

Nasheman is the name of an institute working for special children school in Pakistan. It serves for special children. This school comes in to being in April 24, 1982 and now it serves for about 400 special children. Teachers are trained from King Mahal Lahore and Islamabad. This institute offers technical education to the students.

Wah Cantt has a wonderful living atmosphere over here with lush green mini parks situated in every sector. Wah Cantt is divided in to 27 sectors and some private colonies are also there. These colonies are: -
