Pirpiai is a village, we should rather call it a town, in District Nowshera of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Its population is around 35,000. Pirpiai has a high literacy rate of 92%, compared with Pakistan's average literacy rate of 55%. The village is on GT Road, 8 Kms from Nowshera Cantonment towards Peshawar. Most of the villagers are working-folk, adding to the work-pool through government service, and self-employment. Substantial number of people from the village are working abroad and adding to national exchequer. The village is rich in producing educated and professional class like engineers, doctors, officers of armed forces, civil servants, professors and so on.HistoryPirpiai is said to have been named after Akhunzada Pir Muhammad Khan of Pirpiai,. Akhunkhels Mian, Kakakhes Mian and Akhunzadas are a Fatmi and Hussani Syeds tribes living predominantly in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Some of them are called Pashtun because of Pashto speaking. The word Pashtun people shall not be confused with Pathan tribes, Mashawanis are Fatmi and Akhunkhels Mian, Kakakhels Mian, are Hussani. Mian (Plural Miangan) all the Miangan are respected for their pious origin, forefathers, but they are not descended from one progenitor. They have come from different origins, hence they are known with various names i.e. Syed, Akhunkhel, Kakakhel, Madakhel and Akhunzada etc. Among them Akhunkhels Miangan and kakakhels Miagan are very respected. most men in the family of Akhunkhel Miangan and Kakakhel Miangan ’put "Mian" before their name, and end in "Shah." The tribes are Syeds descending from Muhammad through his daughter Syedah Fatimah and his son-in-law Ali.The lineage transcends down from Imam Hussain and Imam Zain-ul-Abideen. Syed Abdul Wahab known as Akhun Panju Baba, whose tomb is in Akbarpura Nowshera which is attended by thousands of people each year, is their nearest forefather.Akhunzada Pir muhammad khan an Afghan who migrated from Afghnaistan and settled in the area. History says that Akhunzada Pir Muhammad Khan was the son of Akhunzada Daulat Khan.Akhunzada Daulat Khan was a commander and confidant of Nadir Shah Afshar, the ruler of Iran.
