New Karachi Town is a town in the northern part of Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. New Karachi Town is located between the Lyari River, the Manghopir Hills and two major roads – Surjani Road to the north and Shahrah-e-Zahid Hussain to the south. To the north and west lies Gadap Town, and to the south lie the towns of Gulberg Town and North Nazimabad Town. The population of New Karachi Town was estimated to be more than 680,000 at the 1998 census. Sir Syed Colony is named after Sir Syed Ahmad Khan who promoted education amongst the Muslims of British India and founded the Aligarh Muslim University in 1875.
