National Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine

The National Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine is a state run facility that provides both immediate and long-term care for the disabled. It is the only such institution in Pakistan and caters to care from all corners of the country.
Located in the G-8 sector of Islamabad, it was first established by former late president General Zia-ul-Haq for his daughter who suffered from a speech impairment. It was thus initially a centre for the speech impaired. It has however grown exponentially since then in both the services it offers and the patients it caters to.
N.I.R.M provides services to assist people with disabilities in the area of rehabilitation, prosthetics and assistive devices. Awareness of such institutions and issues seem to be lacking not only in Pakistan but throughout the world.
The aim and purpose behind this page, which is solely for N.I.R.M, is to create awareness of the existence of such institutions that stand to help and aid the underprivileged.
