National Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, Islamabad

National Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine was established in 1987/88 under a presidential order to provide state of the art health care facilities for all type of disabilities. The main objectives of the Institute beside routine health services for the handicapped are to introduce, test and provide innovative rehabilitative techniques, perform research and act as a repository of information related to disabilities, provide technical support and guidance to policy makers and planners and the system as a whole on the care of the disabled.
Patients admitted in NIRM are provided complete medical care including investigations, ward admission, medical consultation, surgery, medicines and surgical material, anesthesia, ICU care, post operative care, rehabilitation and high quality diet. Social Welfare Services are being provided through Patients Welfare Society, Zakat & PBM for dental services, aids and appliances, orthotics services and low-vision aids for the disabled.
