The Golden Chick Story began in San Marcos, Texas in 1967 with the belief that chicken could and should be served better.

That belief of a former chicken franchise employee combined with a secret marination and batter mixes laid the foundation of the Golden Chick franchise. Our distinctive recipes, quick service and the quality of our hygienically prepared food, not only attracted customers but also had many inquiring how to open up their own franchise.

Fifteen years, in 1982, the franchise had grown to 39 stores. And the growth did not stop there. In 1989, with the purchase of the Golden Fried Chicken by an investment group in 1989, saw an unprecedented period of growth; today there are over 150 stores.

In September 1993, a new concept – the Golden Chicken – was born based on exciting new additions to the menu and a change in the restaurant ambiance. Positioned to launch the franchise into the future all stores were renamed Golden Chick in 1996.

Over 30 years ago the franchise became home to the Original Golden Tender™. We started using the whole chicken tenderloin (the filet mignon of chicken) to make our Original Golden Tenders™. The tenderloins are specially marinated, hand battered and then cooked to a delicious golden perfection. Although all the ‘big guys’ have tried to copy us, none of have succeeded.

In 2016, the future and the exclusive taste came straight from the USA to Pakistan for the launch of the very first overseas store for the franchise.
