Beautiful Muzaffarabad

The State of Azad Jammu and Kashmir usually termed as Azad Kashmir (literally 'free Kashmir'), is part of the Pakistani-administered section of the Kashmir region, along with the Northern Areas, having official name of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. It covers an area of 13,297 km² (5,134 mi²), with its capital at Muzaffarabad, and its population is estimated as 4 million approx.
Muzaffarabad is the capital of Azad Jammu and Kashmir under the control of Federal Administration of Pakistan. It is located in Muzaffarabad District., comprises hilly area and is located on the banks of the Jehlum and Neelum rivers.
The district is situated by east of Punjab Province, in the west of Kupwara and Baramulla districts of occupied Kashmir, and sout of Federally Adminstered Northern Areas (FANA). The population of the district, was 725,000, according to the 1998 nosecount, but the population should have been nearer to 741,000 according to a 1999 protrusion. The district constitutes three tehsils, and the city of Muzaffarabad does as the capital of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Muzaffarabad is situated at the conflux of the Neelum and Jehlum rivers. The city is 138 kilometers by Rawalpindi and Islamabad and about 76 kilometers from Abbottabad. reared by eminent mountains, Muzaffarabad mirrors a conflate of various cultures and languages. The Neelum river plays a prevailing role in the Muzaffarabad micro-climate
The name "Muzaffararbad" comes from the name of Sultan Muzaffar Khan, a former ruler of the Bomba Dynasty. Muzaffarabad has always been one of the important cities of Kashmir. After the 1948-49 war, Muzaffarabad was made the capital of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The city was struck by an earthquake measuring a magnitude of 7.6 on the Richter Scale on October 8, 2005.
