Amritsar Airport - The Golden Destination

The airport is located in Amritsar city which is the second metropolitan city of Punjab and also the most important and pious place for Sikh religion as it holds the highest temporal seat of Sikhs “Sri Harmandir Sahib”, popularly known as ‘Golden Temple’.

Geographically, Amritsar is located at 31°38′N 74°52′E / 31.63°N 74.87°E / 31.63; 74.87 [2] with an average elevation of 234 meters (768 ft).

FACILITIES AVAILABLE AT THIS AIRPORT:

The airport is 24 x 7 ready with all required infrastructure for catering to world’s largest aircrafts including Boeing 747-400, 777-300ER and Airbus 340-600. We are in the process to upgrade the Airport for 747-800.

Apron
The New Integrated Terminal Building offers 4 aircraft in-contact parking bays and 2 aerobridges at Bay no. 3 & 5. Provision for two more aerobridges has been made and would be installed soon.



Terminal Building

The New Integrated Terminal Building is made of Glass & Steel Structure and compares to world class architecture having modern facilities for international and domestic passengers. The area is approx 46,800 sq. mtr.

• The New Terminal Building has a capacity of 30 CUTE check-in counters. All are connected to SITA network.
• There are 24 immigration counters with 12 each in Arrival and Departure hall.
• There are 12 custom counters with six each in Arrival and Departure to cover large Security Hold Area on the ground and first floor.

The city offers following spots of tourist interest:
1. Sri Harmandir Sahib: the main temporal seat of Sikh religion made by Guru Ram Das Jee. This gurudwara is also known as Golden Temple as it is covered by a layer of gold.
2. Jallian Wala Bagh: This is the memorial of national importance place.
3. Durgiana Temple: This temple has been made alike of Golden Temple and is dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Durga. It also offers prayers to deities of Lakshmi, Narayana and other God and Goddesses.
4. Wagah Border: The border between India & Pakistan which is just 28kms from the main town of Amritsar. The ‘Beating Retreat Ceremony’ at every sunset is the main attraction for visitors coming from across the world.
