Music Mania '16 - The City School Alpha

The City School-Alpha is proud to announce the second iteration of its annual inter-school and collegiate music competition, Music Mania ‘16. The competition, this year will comprise of two categories; ‘Instrumental’ and ‘Folk’ for live singing and music performances, and is open to students from both schools and colleges. As part of the competition, participants will choose to submit their entries for at least one of the two categories mentioned above and will then compete in successive knockout rounds to reach the final stage for their respective category. Both competitions will be judged by professional musicians and singers, who will decide the winners for each successive round and eventually the first place and runner-up positions for each category, upon conclusion of the final rounds.

This year, the event will also host renowned musician and singer Ali Zafar along with Coke Studio Artist Nirmal Roy for a concert at the end of the music competition.

The event is being planned to benefit and promote the Jihad for Thalassemia (JZT) Charity with all proceedings from the event being contributed towards the charity. JZT (Jehaad for Zero Thalassemia) is a non-profit, volunteer-based, youth-led social-work initiative. JZT has not only provided blood for more than 15,000 patients so far, but has also adopted about 500 Thalassemic kids, catering for their blood transfusions and medical bills. JZT now has volunteers from more than 100 colleges and universities representing 80 plus cities
