Govt Zamindar College Postgraduate College, Gujrat

INTRODUCTION

Before partition, an NGO named Zamindar Association founded and headed by Nawab Sir Fazal Ali came into being round about in 1914. Nawab Sir Fazal Ali qualified his graduation from Ali Garh University All India. He had great love in his heart for the people of Gujrat. He inspired them for education. For this purpose he established an NGO named Zamindar Association. The people of Gujrat were very fertile, they responded positively and helped him out to launch this beautiful and glorious institution for the generation of Gujrat. The people of Gujrat took keen interest to establish a school for their children and donated land for the purpose.
Village Madina Syedan shared 38 kanals and 8 marlas, Village Sabowal shared and denoted 92 kanals and a piece of land Government containing Agricultural Farm of irrigation department consisting of 470 Kanals was also specified for the purpose by the Government of the Punjab, and Zamindar High School (Boys) was established in 1927. Later on, in 1937 the association laid the foundation of Zamindar College, Gujrat besides the school.
In 1972 the Government of Pakistan nationalized the both of institutions as per policy matter and now-a-days are working in Public Sector.
The founder of this institution, Nawab Sir Fazal Ali, took keen interest in acquiring the services of the distinguished and renowned scholars of then time like Dr. Jehangir Khan and Prof. Taj Muhammed Khayal as the Principal of this institution Subsequently, Prof. G Sarwar who had earned a great name and fame of teaching English language and literature at Ali Garh University, became its head and served this institution for about 17 years. He contributed a lot towards raising the status and standard of the college from the academic and administrative point of view. Hence, with in a few years, the college achieved excellence in its instructional proficiencies and came up to be rightly compared with Govt. College Lahore and Gordon College Rawalpindi.
This College also enjoys the prestigious position by virtue of dedicated efforts made by Prof. Nawab Allauddin Ahmad, Prof. Muhammad Farman, Prof. Ch. Muhammad Yaqoob, Prof. Hamid Hassan Syed, Prof.Ch.Fazal Hussain. And many others having an equal intellectual status honored this college with their patronizing, learning and teaching skills.
This institution has been achieving more than 50% of merit and talent scholarships, because of its instructional bearings. This institution also earned many trophies and medals due to its remarkable performance in various fields of sports, games and athletics.
