Government Postgraduate College Jhelum is a prestigeous instituion having the great ,unparalleled values. Initialy,this institution started it’s academic work in 1961;about 50 years ago in a rented building situated in Jadah,a prominent town of jhelum where courses at graduation level were offered only.It is worth mentioning that co-education at graduate level persisted till 1973; whereas college classes at intermediate level were started in 1974. Alhamd-o-Lillah, Government Postgraduarte College Jhelum has shown excellent performance in the fields of studies both science and humanities as well as in sports, debates and extracurricular activities.The path of success is still launching to the climax.Commencement of Bachelor of Science Four Years Dgree Programme (FYDP) under University of Gujrat in year 2010 has confirmed its mark of excellence.BS students have excelled in first smester examination of Gujrat university augmenting the trust of the people of Jhelum in this college / university.
At present,the college is situated in Tahlianwala, Jhelum. Total area of the college amounts to 26 acres.The present college building is a huge complex consisting of a large number of spacious classrooms, modern science labs, state of the art Information Technology Lab, general computer lab, two multi-purpose halls, canteen and two hostels for students. there are also beautiful lawns and vast playgrounds for different games.
The leadership of Jhelum has shown a great zeal and strenuous efforts in provision of indispensable funds for uplifting of the college;the college administration owes to special gratitude to the political leadership and expects the kind gesture to be continued in the same manner in future.
